Mumbulla School is located within the township of Bega, nestled beneath Mumbulla Mountain within the picturesque Bega Valley. It draws students from the Bega Valley which includes towns and villages such as Brogo, Bermagui, Cobargo, Tanja, Tathra, Bega, Candelo, Wyndham, Pambula, Merimbula and Eden.
Mission Statement: Mumbulla School is based on the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner which acknowledges the spiritual nature of human beings.
The School community, through the encouragement and co-operation of individuals, sets out to create a harmonious school environment which fosters the balanced development of children, preparing them to act in freedom, with intelligence, creativity and purpose in a changing world.
The school was established by Kevin and Donna McCulloch in Laws Drive, Bega in a residence and registered as a school by the NSW Board of Studies in 1997. Since then, the school has enrolled over 300 students and had its first graduates from Kindergarten to Year 6 in 2005.
Key Features of our School
St Patrick's Primary, a Catholic, co-educational K-6 school with a current enrolment of 190 students and 8 full time classes, was established in 1872. The school has a proud history and an excellent reputation for providing quality education in the Bega Valley.
OUR VISION STATEMENT
The school has just recently adopted a new vision statement "School with a View..." This is a short statement that identifies our role as educators to develop each child as an individual empowering them to eventually be able to participate in our community as individuals capable of forming their own opinions based on the knowledge they themselves gain. It reflects our views as a Catholic school and our role in serving the Catholic Parish and the general community in the Bega Valley. Allowing students to develop positive views on life that will support family and Christian based values is important.
We are an Independent Kindergarten to Year 12 College, part of the South Coast Anglican Schools network, and an integral element in the work of the Anglican Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn.
We enjoy a wonderful setting with excellent buildings and spacious grounds, in a safe and secure environment, within easy driving distance of the beaches and national forests of the far South Coast.
Our school families are able to enjoy the security and convenience of educating their children all at the one campus. This benefits students by providing a continuing interaction with our dedicated teaching staff throughout the whole of their school careers.
The College offers a seamless education system from kindergarten to Year 12, all on one campus. Our reputation has led to an increasing demand for places, with a current enrolment of over 300 students. We are always happy to take students at all year levels, where places are available.
We provide opportunities for students to be involved in range of activities in addition to their studies. Every year we run a major Outdoor Education experience in which all students from Kindergarten to Year 11 are involved in a programme of activities or educational visits.
We are a young school, but are already establishing traditions which will be built on as we continue to grow.
