Graduates are offered research opportunities based in our own laboratories as well as with organisations including the CSIRO, the Victorian AgriBiosciences Centre (VABC) and the Department of Primary Industries (DPI).
The School of Molecular Sciences is in the Faculty of Science, Technology & Engineering and consists of the Department of Biochemistry, Chemistry, Genetics and the School of Pharmacy.
The School has a very strong research culture and attracts over $7 million in outside research grants per annum. The School has also been very active in developing new initiatives in teaching. These include the development of Medical Sciences and Chemical Science degrees, a new Immunology subject as well as the 2-year Masters in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. The Hearing Research Unit for Children has been established within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences in 2007. This research unit is devoted to the study of hearing and hearing disorders in children who may have associated speech, language and learning difficulties. Trinity Education Support Services (T.E.S.S) provides integrated support to students across Preparatory, Junior, Middle and Senior School campuses. TESS provides a wide range of short and long-term individual, group and classroom support interventions is available to students with special academic, physical, intellectual, and social/emotional needs. Interventions are provided in consultation with parents and mainstream teaching staff. Referrals to relevant external and visiting specialists are made where necessary. The TESS department consists of Registered Psychologists/Counsellors, Specialist teachers in learning difficulties, gifted and talented education, English as a Second Language (for students from non-English speaking backgrounds) and Careers education/guidance, Special project personnel and Parent volunteers.
Access to TESS is through referral for assessment and support by teachers and parents or students may seek support directly.

Dancehouse exists to advance independent contemporary dance in Australia through its program of research, training and performance. Dancehouse creates an environment where creative risk, independent career paths, collaborative relationships and diverse practice and presentation can flourish. Dancehouse is also a crucial link to a network of movement practices, artists and organisations in Australia and internationally.
Established by a working group of independent dance practitioners 1992, Dancehouse is the only presenter in Australia dedicated solely to contemporary dance, and it offers the only national residency developed for independent dance practitioners alone. From its base in Melbourne, its reputation and influence has crossed state boundaries to shape the artform nationally.
The Centre conducts historical research into an array of European intellectual traditions and cultural forms. It focuses on the discourses in which these forms of thought and culture were formulated, the networks in which such discourses circulated, and the larger cultural and political contexts in which they functioned. The Centre’s focus on European discourses is acknowledgment that intellectual history is regional, and that the vocabularies in which current cultural, political and religious issues are framed emerged at a particular time and place — in early modern Europe — even if these vocabularies have been transmitted into the present by unresolved conflicts rather than by uninterrupted traditions.

The TIMC undertakes research directed at improving the ability of firms and governments develop effective management practices and policies for technological innovation. The Advanced Water Management Centre (AWMC) is an international centre of excellence in innovative water technology and management. Over the last 15 years of research in this field, the AWMC has developed a leading expertise in education, research and consulting. Its particular strength is the close integration of biological science, process engineering and informatics. This unique combination forms the basis for ground-breaking research but also offers some exciting opportunities for development and application of user-specific solutions to challenging environmental problems.
The AWMC has a vast expertise base in its research team with over 45 academic and research staff and more than 30 research students. The AWMC has an outstanding track record of successful research, development and application projects currently worth almost AU$10 million per annum, many in close collaboration with industry and research collaborators.
The recent water and energy crisis has brought about a major change in many aspects of the water industry. The shift towards a true urban water cycle, both at local and regional scale, poses numerous challenges and opportunities for the water industry as a whole. The research portfolio at the AWMC consists of seven linked program. The combined efforts of our programs are achieving sustainable outcomes for the water industry including protecting our water resources and critical infrastructure.
