Welcome to Canberra Grammar School. A website can give only a glimpse of our community, so – whether you are new to the School or already know us – you are warmly invited to visit us in person to see how our boys and young girls are learning.
We are blessed at Canberra Grammar School with a large and beautiful campus, fine facilities and excellent teachers. Our history is rich in academic, sporting and artistic achievement, and we are fortunate to be in the heart of the Australia’s capital, surrounded by the great intellectual, cultural and political institutions of our nation. However, the true indication of a school’s quality is not in its environment or its past but in how well its students learn to become intelligent, innovative and international, confident, creative and compassionate young leaders of the future. That is our aspiration; that we prepare our students to embrace the challenges of our century as opportunities to make a difference.
Our students are our greatest ambassadors. Speak to them and they will tell you far more than I or this website can about what makes Canberra Grammar School special. They present themselves with an engaging mixture of openness, sincerity and passion. Be it in classrooms, in orchestras, on stage, on the sporting field or in Chapel, they are enthusiastic and determined; they care for each other and they aspire to the highest standards in education.
St Bede's Primary School is centrally located in the leafy surrounds of Red Hill. With the scenic backdrop of Red Hill itself, we take pride in our spacious and well-maintained grounds. St Bede’s is a single stream school from Kindergarten through to Year 6. St Bede’s provides children with specialist teachers to support and enhance classroom teachers in implementing their programs. Some of these are in the areas of French, Music, ICT and Learning Support.
As you navigate our site, you will gain some understanding of the wonderful sense of community enjoyed by our students and their families and the opportunities we provide for all children to fully develop their skills and talents. It is our privilege to work in partnership with families to develop the faith of our children and to assist them in achieving their full academic potential.
Our school's motto, Walk in Love and Peace, provides some insight into the environment in which all community members, adults and children, are challenged to strive for excellence in all we do.
