Schooling takes up a large proportion of an individual’s life; many hours, days and years are spent in formal education laying foundations and building upon these foundations with the ultimate aim of developing well balanced, positive life-long learners.
At St. Michael’s we are acutely aware of this responsibility and therefore endeavour to offer quality schooling within a friendly, caring and supportive environment underpinned by our Christian faith.
One of the many qualities of this community is the acceptance of its members to reflect upon, analyse and evaluate the programmes that are offered, from academic through to social/emotional and spiritual.
An effective school cannot allow itself to become complacent. This desire to be as strong a school as possible has seen us over the last few years develop a curriculum that has literacy, numeracy and Christian studies as ‘foundational pillars’ with the International Baccalaureate programme providing the curriculum framework.
Cornerstone College, founded in 1990, is an independent co-educational Lutheran Secondary College for Years 7 to 12. Located at Mount Barker in the picturesque Adelaide Hills the College is situated on 16 hectares. The campus provides the latest facilities to best enable today’s learners. Our exceptional approach to learning and wellbeing provides the greatest possible opportunities for your child to flourish.
The College facilities and campus provide a stunning and stimulating learning environment. We have a brand new purpose-built Middle School building, polished, sprung gymnasium, seated arts theatre with state-of-the-art lighting and sound, wetlands and environmental centre, commercial kitchens, AstroTurf tennis courts and a magnificent full size oval. These facilities enable experiential learning of the highest quality.
There is a profound understanding that our exceptional facilities mean little without the nurture, care and expertise of the staff. At Cornerstone, that is what we pride ourselves on, and is what differentiates us from others. Ongoing staff professional development and training is a high priority and an expectation, ensuring that the College continues to provide best practice teaching and learning.
