Sacred Heart School has a long and proud tradition of education in Kew. Sacred Heart School was begun in 1875, located as a Church/School at the corner of Walpole and Walton Streets, Kew. From these beginnings, two Sisters of the Faithful Companions of Jesus (F.C.J.) established the school in 1889, with an initial enrolment of 27. In 1900, the foundation stone of the new school, situated in Cotham Road, was laid by Archbishop Carr and, on 18th August, 1901, the 'new school hall' building was ready for occupation.
We owe a great debt to the F.C.J. Sisters whose great work and determination laid the foundations for this wonderful Sacred Heart School.

Carey is a leading christian co-educational independent school for students from 3-year-old kindergarten to Year 12.
A Carey education extends beyond the classroom, the music room and the sports field – it extends beyond the boundaries of the School itself. Our students leave Carey with an awareness of the world in which they live and a sense of responsibility towards those with whom they share that world.
Our two main campuses are at Kew close to Melbourne’s CBD, and at Donvale in the outer eastern suburbs.
We have two more campuses - the magnificent Carey Sports Complex in Bulleen, approximately mid-way between our Kew and Donvale campuses, and Camp Toonallook, an Outdoor Education facility in Eastern Gippsland.
Carey is a member of the Associated Public Schools of Victoria through which we participate in a sporting competition.
At Preshil, we constantly explore new ways of educating children in the 21st century. The objective of Preshil is to equip students for a changing society, ensuring they are well adjusted, capable of making their own decisions, and able to cooperate with others.
Preshil graduates are mature young adults, confident and adept. They enjoy a love of learning, have a social conscience, and have a firm belief in themselves. They have courage, compassion and an appreciation for beauty and life. They are resolute, forthright and able to operate successfully as individuals and as a part of a social group.
Preshil students are well equipped to tackle future tertiary studies, enter the workforce or follow their passions in whatever way they choose. They are expected to take responsibility for their actions and ultimately create their own future. Choice with responsibility is a powerful combination – one that fosters self-discipline, maturity, resilience, confidence, initiative, creativity and courage in every child.
The unhindered development of our children, academically, socially and emotionally, is the Preshil mission. It’s also our greatest achievement. Your child’s potential is theirs to discover. Preshil will help them find it.
