St. Benedict's School Vision
We believe that St. Benedict's is a Catholic School is where each of the following statements is considered equally important.
In the context of the Gospel values each child is encouraged to develop spiritually, emotionally, socially, physically and academically, with the view to becoming a responsible citizen within society.
Pastoral Care for all members of the school community is of prime importance for living and sharing the gift of faith. Each child is made aware that as travellers along the same journey in faith, he/she has a responsibility towards carrying on Jesus’ mission on earth.
Children, parents and teachers are nurtured in a faith environment so that they may grow in their relationship with God and each other.
MLC School is an independent, non-selective Uniting Church school for girls from Pre Kindergarten to Year 12 in the Inner West of Sydney. Our rigorous approach challenges students to be fearless thinkers with the courage to grasp innovation, take measured risks and make a difference in their lives and the lives of others.
130 years ago our founders had the revolutionary goal of preparing girls for university and MLC School remains at the forefront today. Our academic, co-curricular and pastoral care programs are responsive to the changing needs of these complex times and encourage girls to take measured risks, embrace innovation and adapt to change.
Students gain the skills to navigate their strengths and weaknesses, the courage and optimism to make a difference and the motivation to become lifelong learners. Students are also challenged to think and act like leaders and opportunities to lead abound. On average, 90% of the Year 12 cohort elects to take on the office of prefect. It is a testament to a schooling that has pushed them to take responsibility and be agents of change in their own lives and the lives of others.
At MLC School we embrace every girl's individual characteristics and are proud of the culturally diverse population they form. Our graduates are prepared for a life of learning: empowered with a fundamental optimism, multiple perspectives and a questioning mindset.
