We, the St Joseph's College Community, are committed to continue education in the Catholic tradition, through the example of Jesus Christ, our beginning and end. We uphold the model of life long learning and hope that each boy leaves St Joseph’s with confidence and motivation to keep reaching for new horizons.

Freshwater Creek Steiner School

52 McIntyres Road, Freshwater Creek VIC 3216

The purpose of Freshwater Creek Steiner School (FCSS) is to provide a high quality child centered education in the light of the College of Teacher‟s interpretation of Rudolf Steiner‟s philosophy of pedagogy. In essence Rudolf Steiner education recognises soul faculties of the human being which emerge and develop during childhood.

Our education is based on engaging the whole child working with the “head”, “heart”, and “hands”. Our curriculum and methodology uses these faculties in the teaching of each subject area. In doing so, the faculties themselves are strengthened.

Deakin University The Faculty of Arts and Education

Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus Pigdons Road, Geelong VIC 3220

The School of History, Heritage and Society offers programs that provide you insights and understandings of the world we live in. We consider questions such as:

  • How do societies function in local and global settings?
  • How do societies outside Australia respond to change?
  • What are the forces and great events that have shaped the modern world? How have different interpretations of the recent past emerged?
  • What are the relationships between crime and major social and political structures governing our society?
  • How do we identify and manage cultural heritage in situations of competing interests?
  • How do we explain the changing nature of Australian identity?
  • What are the main factors shaping people’s lives in national and international contexts?

Addressing these and other questions are the School’s disciplines of Anthropology, Australian Studies, Criminology, Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies, History and Sociology. We also encourage students to take advantage of the Study Abroad program, providing opportunities for a period of study overseas.

We aim to produce graduates with enhanced skills in analysis, clear thinking and presentation. They will also have the knowledge and professionalism to apply and adapt these skills to many workplaces.

Staff members are active in their professional communities in Australia and overseas. The School also features a high level of research activity, a significant amount of which relates to priorities of Deakin's Strategic Research Centre, the Centre for Comparative Social Research and the Cultural Heritage Centre for Asia and the Pacific.

The present site was formerly Our Lady's Primary School.

The amalgamation has progressed well and a new positive and productive culture is being nurtured. Holy Spirit is part of the cluster parish which include St Patrick's and Holy Family. The school has an enrolment of approximately 285 students that caters for children's learning from Prep to Year 6 in a co-educational setting.

Kardinia International College Logo and Images

Kardinia International College

205 Ballarat Road, Geelong VIC 3220

Kardinia International College offers education for both boys and girls from all over the world. Whilst most of our students are local, we have a consistent enrolment of approximately 60 students from various overseas countries. We have a maximum of 16 from one country so that we can integrate them fully into the College.

Homestay accommodation is organised by a homestay co-ordinator. This type of accommodation offers flexibility that boarding cannot. It also gives overseas students an Australian life experience.

Often people in the Geelong region imagine that there are a lot of overseas students at Kardinia because it is an 'international' College. This is actually not so. Of the 1800 students at Kardinia only 60 are from overseas, the vast majority are local students. At Kardinia we have a very different view on internationalism – we regard all 1800 students as international students – our whole approach and curriculum is designed to produce students who will graduate as global citizens and who can be leaders in our world.

Kardinia teaches the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme in the Kindergarten, Preschool and Junior School. Years 7-10 have a vertical curriculum which leads to either the Victorian Certificate of Education or the International Baccalaureate Diploma for Years 11 and 12.

Christ the King Catholic Primary school is a welcoming and inclusive community that has served families for over 50 years. The school motto, Christ is the Key ensures the values, teachings and life of Jesus Christ are lived out on a day-to-day basis.

The school places a strong emphasis on developing a sense of compassion and social justice, with students actively involved in raising money for our partner parish of Mary Immaculate Viqueque, East Timor.

A culture of academic achievement is strongly emphasised and nurtured at Christ the King.  With a personalised approached to learning, we endeavor to meet the needs of all children.  Regular assessments of students in all learning areas provide staff with the information they need to progress each child to the next stage of learning.

Regular and ongoing feedback to students through learning conversations (between teacher and student) support students to take the next step with their learning. Student Assessment Portfolios keeps parents informed and engaged in the learning process.

Technology is used as a tool to support learning, via the use of chrome-books and iPads. Students in the Senior Learning Community have a personal blog to track their learning journey and report assessments to parents.

A vibrant Arts program enables students to experience both Visual and Performing arts. The School Musical and Visual Arts Show provide students with an authentic audience to express their creativity.

The three keys to School Wide Positive Behaviour program include Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. These keys to positive behaviour are explicitly taught and further support the lessons around Social and Emotional learning. Our approach to school wide positive behaviour and social and emotional learning lay the foundations for creating a safe and orderly environment that sets students up for success and achievement.

As a Family School Partnership school, we encourage and welcome parents to engage with their child’s learning. Regular Learning Walks and Community Conversations allow parents to take part in their child’s learning.
