Sophia Mundi is an exciting, vibrant, independent, non-denominational and co-educational inner city Steiner school offering an affordable, enriching educational pathway from Early Childhood to Senior Secondary. We share a five-acre site in inner city Melbourne, within the beautiful and safe surrounds of the Abbotsford Convent, adjacent to the Collingwood Children's Farm. We are a not-for-profit organization, a member of Steiner Education Australia, and an International Baccalaureate World School, offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma in years 11 and 12. We are the first school in Australia to offer the unique combination of a Steiner curriculum and the International Baccalaureate. We offer a real "Sophia Mundi Difference".
Since late 2012 we have had our complete Prep to Year 12 campus at St Mary's within the Abbotsford Convent. Our Prep classroom and garden is right next to the St Mary's paddock of the Children's Farm and is a delight. Our new playground, constructed on top of the previously derelict swimming pool at the Abbotsford Convent is now in full use and is open to the public outside of school hours. Take a "virtual tour" of some of our facilities.
We look forward to meeting you at one of our regular information evenings or school tours. We hold Senior School Information Evenings to introduce the Steiner/ IB combination to existing and new parents and students. Our school tours are held on the first Tuesday of each month and prep tours are held on the first Friday of each month.
We're very excited about our new organic vegetable garden - highlighted in this video - which has been created through lots of work from many of our school community members and has been supported by the local Bendigo Bank, Australian Organic Schools and a series of Class 3 projects in the school. We particularly thank our school Canteen team for their inspiration and donations of money which have brought the project to fruition – it's just wonderful to enjoy fresh organic produce from our own school garden in the beautiful meals made in our Canteen.
