Heritage College is a co-educational school catering for students from Kindergarten through to Year 12. At Sacred Heart Villawood we hold the view that parents are our partners in education and in faith, and that we, as teachers, play an important role in affirming and supporting parents in the faith education of their children. Through our Religious Education Program, we aim to bring together faith, life and culture, thus helping students in the knowledge and understanding of their faith tradition.
We acknowledge the importance of the role of the pastor and work in close cooperation with him. The Sacramental Program is based on Parish/School/Parent cooperation. Parent meetings for Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation are organised and parents are kept involved. The Sacraments of Reconciliation are celebrated in Year 2 and the Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated every even year, combining the two year 5 and 6 classes of that year. Special celebrations, class liturgies and other activities are listed in the fortnightly newsletter and parents are invited to attend.
St Gertrude’s is located in Smithfield in south-western Sydney, within St Gertrude’s Parish. The school was opened in January 1952 by the Josephite Sisters and continues today to practise the values and traditions of Mary MacKillop, their foundress.
The school is a co-educational K-6 primary school with 28 class groups and an enrolment of over seven hundred students. The school operates within an area of large cultural diversity with the students enrolled reflecting an amalgam of 25 cultural backgrounds.
